Safety and compliance as core values
Van den Herik Sliedrecht is a family business with approximately 200 employees. As a hydraulic engineering company, the organization is active in hydraulic engineering projects and in the detection of conventional explosives. In addition to versatility and innovation, Van den Herik is known for its social and sustainable approach. Respect for laws, regulations, and local customs is embedded in all activities, making responsible entrepreneurship visible. It is no coincidence that Van den Herik has been ISO 14001 certified since 2012.
Since 2015, Van den Herik has been working with Lexerta to ensure that the company always has access to up-to-date and relevant environmental laws and regulations. This provides the organization with certainty and relieves it in the continuously changing HSE landscape.
Staying up-to-date in HSE compliance
HSE compliance requires continuous attention. Changes in laws and regulations, as well as internal changes, can affect the company's obligations. For Van den Herik, it was important to be demonstrably aware at all times of the relevant environmental regulations and to efficiently and effectively safeguard these within the organization.
Register of Environmental Requirements and Periodic Updates
Lexerta offers Van den Herik the Service Contract Register of Environmental Requirements, including the use of Pharius, an online compliance tool with a clear dashboard, task module, and daily updated legal obligations. Company-specific rules can also easily be added and incorporated into the compliance process.
The implementation of the register followed four phases: inventory, assessment, training, and safeguarding. In 2015, the process began by mapping all relevant laws and regulations for the entire organization. The result is a clear register in which legislation is linked to different company divisions, such as office, premises, project locations, and maritime shipping.
Every four weeks, Van den Herik receives an update of relevant changes, provided with a clear explanation and advice from the dedicated Lexerta advisor on follow-up and safeguarding. Van den Herik assesses these updates internally and distributes them within the organization, with the Lexerta advisor maintaining an active role. At least annually, a consultation takes place in which the most important changes and any internal developments are discussed, ensuring the register remains up-to-date and practically applicable at all times.
Current, manageable, and demonstrable
With the Service Contract Requirements Register, Van den Herik has an efficient and reliable way to stay continuously informed about relevant laws and regulations. The organization can demonstrably comply with all environmental obligations and has a practical foundation to effectively secure changes in legislation and internal processes.
Marc Keijzer, Head of QHSE, emphasizes:
"It feels good that we are notified monthly of changes that are relevant to us. This guarantees that we always work according to the most current laws and regulations. Something that has a very high priority in our organization."
The service contract can be expanded with a compliance module, which allows tasks to be assigned online and demonstrates how all obligations are being met. In this way, Lexerta supports Van den Herik structurally in safe and compliant business operations.
