Meet Joram
At Lexerta, we value short lines of communication and personal contact. That’s why we’d like to introduce you to the faces behind Lexerta. The first in this series is Joram Wierenga, who works with our editorial team. He started at (then) RDMG Publishers in Leeuwarden as an HBO law intern. Thanks in part to the great atmosphere where he immediately felt at home and the flexibility, he never left.

''I immediately felt at home''
As an intern, Joram started by updating general terms and conditions and disclaimers, and he translated complex texts in laws and regulations into understandable language for our clients. Both sides enjoyed the internship, so after his internship, Joram decided to ‘keep working’ during the holidays.
After that, a great graduation assignment was waiting for him, and he mapped out the legal framework for food safety. By now, the results of that assignment have been implemented in Pharius and, in addition to environment and working conditions, Lexerta also supports food safety. After graduating, the collaboration did not end. The temporary employment contract became a permanent one.
There is room for a joke and a serious conversation
In the years that followed, Joram continued to work with us alongside his studies. By then, we had moved about 120 kilometers, to Deventer. "That is mainly due to the flexibility and the good work-from-home facilities. I am glad that this allows me to continue working at this wonderful organization.
The pleasant atmosphere means that I never travel from Leeuwarden to Deventer for work with reluctance. We almost always have lunch together and regularly order a sandwich as well. There is a friendly atmosphere in the office, and there is always room for a joke but also for a serious conversation."
"Getting to know your colleagues outside of work adds an extra dimension to your job"
In addition to work-related contact, I really enjoy the drinks and other outings that are regularly organized. Talking to your colleagues outside of work, in a different setting, adds an extra dimension to your job. This sets the tone for the interactions you have at work. Moreover, the employment conditions are excellent and, in addition to receiving a salary, we are rewarded for our efforts in various ways. That is motivating. Think of an original Christmas package, a birthday present, and the bonus that employees receive based on the profit made.
What does your workday look like?
In recent years, I have mainly been involved in keeping the database up to date. The daily changes in national and international laws and regulations that are published are processed daily. This ensures that the customer always has an up-to-date overview of applicable laws and regulations. In addition, I am working on recording customers' permits in our database. This gives them insight into which permits they have and which regulations they are bound to.
At the moment, I am reviewing our working methods. This is to ensure that we (continue to) work efficiently and effectively and, where possible, switch to other (new) working methods. There is plenty to do, and that makes my work interesting and varied. In short: I really enjoy working for Lexerta and will certainly continue to do so for the foreseeable future!’’
